Welcome NBA 2k18 players! Today we’re going to show you how to beat your opponent off the dribble and create space for yourself with your dribble moves.
Dribbling Tips for Beginners of NBA 2K18:
First is the signature rhythm dribble. You activate this by flicking the right stick towards the basket. Or you can also double tap into L2 or LT button while standing still and the ball handler will perform his own signature size of dribble. Obviously by the name you’ll run across different ones. Someone will let you explode out of it easier than others. Some are only last for a second or two. Others will pull off a bunch of moves in quick succession making their rhythm dribble a deadly move on its own.
Next is the crossover escape. You hold RT or R2 then flick the right stick to your off ball hand which like the hesitation escape as the sideways or step-back animation giving you room to pull up for jumping. Now for the between the legs cross you aim the right stick to the heel of your off ball hand or tap the LT or L2 button to perform a between-the-legs action. So if the ball is in your left hand you ain’t down into the right and vice versa. It changes your direction without losing much momentum while protecting the ball.
Next is the in and out dribble. And you do this by holding RT or R2 on your controller and flick the right stick towards the hoop. The point of this move is to get your defender to bite on the direction you faked. So you can go back the other way or freeze them just enough so that you can blow by them.
Our next tips will be behind the back dribble. To perform a behind-the-back dribble hit LT or L2 on your controller or move the right stick away from the hoop. Going behind the back completely protects the ball from the defender while you change direction. Now for the step back you hold RT or r2 and then flick the right stick away from the hoop. This can create tons of separation depending on how aggressive the defender was guarding it.
Next I’m gonna go over the hesitation dribble. To pull this off, you need to push the right stick towards the hand you currently have the ball. It’s effective because you’re making the defender uncomfortable by changing up how fast you’re moving with the ball. And as a result, it makes them uncertain to what you’re gonna do. Because sometimes freeze in place and either get easily blown by or give up a contested jumper. You do this by hitting RT or R2 then flick the right stick towards the ball.
The Last one will be the crossover. To pull this off you, push the right stick towards your off ball hand or tap the LT or L2 button. This is a counter to defenders who over commit on you. Drive and sit across the ball over to the other side leaving the defender grabbing air. It’s a great as a counter gives the finish trying to defend a pick-and-roll.
That’s it guys! Hope that helped you improve your dribbling skills so you can cause fear in your opponent’s every time you walk up the court.
